Isn't it funny how life changes? I mean, duh, of course it does, but life has really changed so much over the last year and even the last 6-7 months that it's hard for me to believe. If you had told me last April that this April would look the way it does, I would have laughed and said I had my act together too much to allow it. HA!
Here's what our life consists of (and I know I'm not alone in this and that there are many who are much busier, but for me, this is about as busy as I can ever imagine being).
Stanton: Exercise every morning at 5:45 with Tyler, seeing 40-50 patients per day, in the final design phases for new building - starting construction in July, bringing on a new associate who will eventually become a partner, Elder's Quorum president, father, chicken farmer, and beekeeper (**smile**).
Me: Exercise every morning at 5:15 or 5:30 with Jana, managing 4 children's school, lessons, sports, and home life, caring for a growing, busy, sick lately baby, sewing a few small projects for a local quilt shop, keeping the house and laundry in a liveable state, choir director, mother.
Chloe: Piano practice daily, piano lessons weekly, school work (definitely intensifying in 3rd grade), gymnastics team practice 2x per week, 3 hours per night, private gymnastics lessons 1 hour per week, gymnastics meets 2x per month (traveling throughout Northern Utah), Activity Days 2x per month.
Lily: Piano practice daily, piano lessons weekly, soccer games 2x per week, soccer practice 1x per week, schoolwork, activity days 2x per month.
Brigham: Schoolwork, soccer games 2x per week.
Cannon: Preschool 4x per week, gymnastics 1 hr per week.
Henry: Whatever the heck he wants.
**I'm chuckling right now because I started this post 3 weeks ago. I didn't even have time to finish it. I am not sure where I was even going with it, but it offers a glimpse into our life right now, I suppose. I am so thankful that I have the calling I have. If I were to be serving in a much busier calling, I'm not sure I could juggle life with even the small amount of grace I'm managing at the moment. I so admire Stanton for plowing along in the way he is. I'm so inspired by my sisters and sisters in law who manage their home lives with extremely busy bishop husbands. I'm in awe of Jana who is in exactly the phase of life I'm in...but with the added stress and demands of being our ward's Relief Society president. Of Mandy who is juggling twin 2 year olds along with children on competitive and rec soccer teams. Of Rachel, with three tiny girls - 4, 3, and 7 months. I am not alone in my busyness - not by a long shot, but it's my busy and it has been overwhelming at times. I'm so thankful that Stanton is ambitious. I'm thankful he is committed to his work and to his calling. I'm thankful he has hobbies that provide necessary distraction from the extreme stress he's under. I'm so thankful that my children are involved in such fulfilling activities. They've learned so much by participating in them. The stretching is an important part of the growing.
