These pictures are from the water balloon relays the kids did. Another great activity. I love these pictures of her classmates. The more time I spend in the kids' classrooms, the more I realize that the authors of children's books have the elementary school scene down pat! There are so many different personalities, ways of dressing, doing hair, ethnicity, names....all of it. I love it!!! She's had a great class this year.
This is Chloe with her wonderful teacher, Mrs. Phillips. This woman has been such a tremendous teacher for Chloe this year. Wow. She has absolutely loved her and has really flourished under her teaching. We are so blessed to have such wonderful teachers!As for Brigham's class party, I was in charge of one of the carnival stations. The whole thing was a huge production - the kids loved it and I was just glad I wasn't in charge of it! After they were fed a buffet lunch and given paper graduation caps ( :) - not joking!), they came outside for a pirate treasure hunt and a few other games. It ended up being pretty fun, I have to say. I'm just not a huge fan of "graduating" from anything other than high school....our teachers aren't, either, I'm happy to say. But the mom/grandma in charge (whom I have to say I really quite adore and admire!!!!) wanted to go all out. She did! It was fun for the kids, though, so I really should just delete this whole spiel!
Anyway, for my carnival game, I used this idea from Family Fun Magazine:
You just cut shapes in a tarp, secure them with duct tape, and then let the kids at 'em! I ended up making several bean bags so that we could take turns quickly. It was fun and simple -- at that's my style!
