Family Pictures, September 2011

I never posted the pictures Emily Chadwick took for our family this year!  Before I print the book, I need to throw them in.

Those are some darn cute kids, if I do say so myself.  :)

December Daily - Wednesday, December 7th

After such a crazy and busy day yesterday, I sort of bombed this morning.  I sat around in my jammies all morning sort of zoned out on the computer.  Before I knew it, it was time to make lunch for the boys.  Oops!  I nixed the shower (thank goodness for deodorant!), threw the hair in a pony, and made good use of the rest of the day.
Cannon is having a really hard time wanting to go to preschool every day, which has been tough.  He's always super happy once he gets going, but he doesn't want to go....ever.  I almost kept him home today, but I just feel like he needs the separation from me.  I hope he improves over the next year and a half...if not, Kindergarten will be a beast.
Anyway, I'm really glad I didn't keep him home because my handy phone alarm buzzed as I was about to tackle all the laundry folding that needed to happen -- it was telling me it was time to go help in Brigham's class.  Thank goodness for smart phones!!!!
I went to his class and helped with assessments.  It's so fun to work one on one with the kids -- they're an adorable bunch!  And oh, how I LOVE that my little boy loves me and wants to hug me and kiss me on the cheek.  He melts my mother heart.
Cannon came home from school and we got started on the laundry (and thanks to you, Angie, I watched a Lifetime Christmas movie -- Dear Santa -- cheesy holiday goodness!).
Halfway through laundry folding, the kids got home from school.  We did homework, reading, and got Chloe off to piano lessons (Lily's were this morning).  After that was over, I folded more laundry and then we got dinner ready.  I'm thankful for leftovers!
While I got dinner ready, the kids played Christmas Choir:
I think some karate ninja guys were in the choir.  :)
Oh, I also payed Chloe for her babysitting.  She promptly got out a tithing slip and envelope and payed her $.30 tithing.  And she added a $.50 piece for the general temple fund because, "I want more temples around the world."  You can guess how her momma felt about that.  She is a sweetheart.

We had scripture study and the girls practiced their song for Sacrament Meeting on Sunday with Stanton while I read a couple of stories to the boys.
To top off a good day, Emily Chadwick brought over our family pictures!  I got them in the frames and am loving them!

I'm a bit embarrassed about this morning, but the rest of the day was pretty acceptable.  Now I have to go finish that laundry.....

Easter Sunday

What a great day.  I mentioned the Easter Bunny stuff on the last post, so I'll start after that.  We got the kiddos fed and ready for church.  They looked SO cute in their new Easter clothes.  I had some bow ties made for the boys that matched the girls' dresses.
We fed the kids lunch and then rearranged our house to fit our 30 choir members.  We had a run through of our Easter program and went over a couple trouble spots in our songs.
This program has been such a humbling and challenging experience for me.  I volunteered to do it, asking our bishopric if we could do something in Sacrament Meeting to make Easter as big of a deal as Christmas.  I had a vision in my mind of how the program was going to go and chose the music with that in mind.  We've been practicing the music for several months now (since February I think?) and it has just not come together quickly.  Even last week we were still really struggling -- feeling really discouraged about the whole situation.  In addition to the music not coming together, the program wasn't coming together, either.  The vision I had just wasn't working -- I wasn't feeling the Spirit as I wrote it and I was completely stalled.  That was the case until last Sunday morning, when I finally swallowed my pride, asked sincerely for help, became willing to delete pretty much everything I'd previously written, and let the Spirit be my guide.  The program ended up being very simple, but full of the Spirit.
During our rehearsal on Sunday morning, it finally felt like things were coming together.  In fact, there were some very tender moments with the Spirit for me during that time.
Sacrament meeting went really well.  We had some families and members of our ward who don't make it to church very often come out and it felt like the program came together in just the way it needed to.  It felt like we really celebrated our Savior's Atonement and Resurrection.  A member of our bishopric, Keith Christiansen, gave the talk and ended the meeting with the most incredible Spirit.  Honestly.  His talk was beautiful and so incredibly full of the Spirit.  He spoke of miracles and the Miracle that is Jesus Christ.  I felt a reaffirmation of my personal testimony of the Savior and His sacrifice for me.

We left right after Sacrament meeting to spend time with Stanton's family.  We drove to Layton and had dinner with all the siblings except Julie and fam, who are still in Singapore.  It was a great afternoon spent with family.  It's so fun to see the cousins (on BOTH sides of the family) get along so well.  There is rarely any quarreling and they just love each other so much.  And I got to ride home with Jim, Rachel, Shelbi, Mary, and Judy.  That was such a treat.  It was so fun to play with the girls and get to know them a little better.  And I couldn't love Jim, Rachel, and Judy more.  They are so great.  Stanton got home a bit later and we got the kids to bed together.  Somewhere along the way (during Sacrament Meeting), I got some laryngitis -- I'm still fighting that.

This was an Easter to remember.  Humbling, faith affirming, and all around joyous.  Family is everything and there is One who makes my family what it is.  That is Jesus Christ.  He is real.  He is alive.  He loves me.  He loves you.  He has restored the church and kingdom He established when He lived mortally on the earth.  That church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He loves all of His children on the Earth.  All of us.  He wants all of us to live with Him after we die and are resurrected.  We will be resurrected.  I know it's real.  I do not doubt any of it.  I'm grateful for it.

And here are some pictures of our family this Easter.  It's always a treat to try and get a few good ones when they "know" we want them!

He Lives, all glory to His name.  He lives, my Savior still the same.  He lives, and while He lives, I'll sing.  He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.

Emily took some wonderful pictures of our family before we left on this trip. She just got them posted on her photo blog today.

Thanks, Em. These lightened my spirits after a rough afternoon.

PhotoBooth: His and Hers

My friend, Autumn, does a cute continuing series on her blog showcasing the differences between she and her husband. Today I just had to document one of our own.

I was feeling all cute & sassy this morning, so I took a picture of myself using PhotoBooth --- I was going to use it to explain that the Wii Fit is really wrong when it says I am 7 years older than my actual age (7 or 5 or maybe 3, the point is, I'm bitter and want to prove it wrong).

While taking the photo, I discovered this gem made by Stanton -- he never told me about it and I think I might know why. But it's my blog, so I'm going to show it anyway.

So, His & Hers: PhotoBooth Edition

You Do Know She Can Take Your Pictures, Too, Right?

I mean seriously, I'm giddy over these photos. Emily did it again.

Hard to Believe

We've been in our home for 2 years now and I just can't believe the things we've done here.

We finished our basement this winter, which we absolutely awesome. The girls love sleeping down there and are not even aware of the idea of being scared in a basement.

And here's our yard one year ago (well, one year and 2 months ago...) next to the same spot today.

It looks like a little paradise here and it is. But just to keep it real, here's our porch on any given day...

And just to further freak myself out over what a difference a year makes, behold the children one year ago and today (well, last month...).
